"The Freedom 21 sailboat was designed by Garry Hoyt for Freedom Yachts in the early 80's.   At least a couple hundred were built by TPI (Tillotson Pearson, the JBoat manufacturer) in the 1980's.  It is still manufactured in England, and still much loved here in the States.  It is not a common sailboat, in any sense of the word.   It is designed to be fun to sail, easy enough for a novice and challenging enough for an experienced sailor, an unusual combination."  From previous Freedom 21 Web site.
